For over 100 years snipers have relied on traditional gillie suits for camouflage on the battlefield. With the advances in optronics and sensor technology being deployed in the battle-space snipers must also now consider their thermal and IR signatures, as well as still blending into their surroundings.
Through advanced engineering and by the fusion of different technologies, The PHANTOM GILLIE defeats detection in the visible spectrum up to 10um, thus covering the entire near-infrared to LWIR wavelengths for a truly outstanding multi-spectrum protection.
The Phantom Ghillie suit has been designed to deal with different tactical and climatic situations and is therefore modular and extremely breathable. The core module is a Bolero covering most of the torso and head, with optional extension sleeves to cover up the arms. The cape-like rear section of the Ghillie can be quickly zipped on and off and allows for it to be used as a personal camouflage net or sniper blind. The low weight of the full suit at just 1700g fully camouflaged makes it comfortable to wear for extended periods and the supplied compression bag makes it easy to transport in a backpack.
The realistic and organic looking exterior made of Phantom Fibre disrupts the visual silhouette of the sniper, and manipulates the heat signature emitted through thermal convection and radiation to appear the same temperature as the surroundings. The entire Ghillie does not absorb any significant amount of water. There are currently 12 different Phantom Fibre colour and pattern options to chose from, allowing the sniper team to build their own unique gillies best suited for the terrain, and season they will be operating in. Local foliage can also be added to the suit for an enhanced visual effect.
